All are welcome to join the upcoming 5-kilometer race at Montana State University to support scholarships for students in the College of Education, Health and Human Development. The Bobcat Pounce: 5K Run, Walk, Stroll will take place on the campus at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 26. The event will start and finish underneath the walkway connecting the parking garage to Norm Asbjornson Hall.
Joe Hicks, associate teaching professor in the college and event organizer, stated, "All proceeds from the annual event help fund student scholarships." He further clarified that this year's proceeds will benefit the General EHHD Scholarships Fund, providing support for merit and need-based scholarships to students aspiring to become teachers, counselors, physical therapists, food systems leaders, and community health professionals.
Prizes will go to the top three overall finishers, and medals will be awarded to the 0-9 age group. Additionally, all participants will have the chance to win various prizes donated for the event.
This year, the Bobcat Pounce joins the “Spring into Spring 5K Trifecta” series. It is the final race in the series, and those who participate in all three races will have the opportunity to win a grand prize for the lowest combined time, as well as a prize selected by a random drawing.
The registration fee is $25, with online registration available until midnight on Friday, April 25. In-person registration will be open between 9 and 9:30 a.m. on race day. Participants can also purchase long-sleeve Bobcat Pounce T-shirts for $20 at the event, with proceeds aiding MSU student scholarships.
Parking will be free on weekends in designated MSU lots unless otherwise marked, and a parking map can be reviewed at www.montana.edu/parking/. For more details or to register, visit www.montana.edu/calendar/event.html?id=53441.
