Graduate students at Montana State University will present their extensive thesis projects in a concise format during the upcoming Three Minute Thesis competition. The event, hosted by MSU's Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering, is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, at Inspiration Hall in Norm Asbjornson Hall.

The competition features nine finalists from various disciplines within the engineering college. Each student will deliver a brief presentation summarizing their research and its impact on everyday life. Participants are allowed only one slide to assist in conveying their message to a non-specialist audience.

This year's finalists include:

- Breuklyn Opp from Chemical and Biological Engineering with "Biological Antifreeze – Where Biotech Meets Microbial Adaptation."

- Rio Moore from Chemical and Biological Engineering presenting "Advancing Green-Chemistry Catalysis: Enhancing Solid State Ion Exchange for Efficient Mordenite-Based Catalysts."

- Fatima Ododo from Computer Science discussing "Making AI Smarter and More Reliable in Real-World Applications."

- Redempta Manzi from Computer Science with "How Software Bill of Material Generation Tools and Formats Affect Compliance with U.S. Standard."

- Stevens Shea from Electrical and Computer Engineering presenting "Measuring the Waters from Above: Laser Measurements of Aquatic Vegetation."

- Mackenna Landis from Electrical and Computer Engineering discussing "Structuring the Brain, from the Inside Out."

- Riad Morshed Rezaul from Materials Science with "Discontinuous Carbon Fiber for Aerospace Application."

- Ethan Viles from Mechanical and Industrial Engineering presenting "Bone Inspired Structural Materials."

- Yoni Shchemelinin from Mechanical and Industrial Engineering discussing "On the Adoption of Stretch Broken Carbon Fiber."

Additionally, the College of Agriculture will hold its own Three Minute Thesis competition on Friday, March 28, at 10 a.m. in Linfield Hall room 113.

The Three Minute Thesis is an international research communication competition that originated at the University of Queensland in Australia. More details can be found at threeminutethesis.org.
