Waded Cruzado President of Montana State University | Montana State University
Montana State University’s College of Arts and Architecture is set to host two events in April to honor President Waded Cruzado's contributions to the arts and her forthcoming retirement. The events will showcase her support and dedication to the university’s artistic community.
On Wednesday, April 2, a reception is scheduled at 5:15 p.m. in the Helen E. Copeland Gallery. This will follow a student thesis exhibition and an architecture presentation in Cheever Hall’s lower gallery. On Monday, April 7, students and faculty from the School of Music will host a complimentary concert at 7:30 p.m. in Howard Hall’s Reynolds Recital Hall. This concert, “Music of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean,” will feature performances by 12 groups of vocalists and instrumentalists, celebrating Cruzado's Puerto Rican heritage.
Elizabeth Schmidt, concert organizer and assistant professor in the School of Music, remarked on Cruzado’s involvement, stating, “Cruzado’s consistent presence at MSU’s concerts and her genuine interest in the well-being of those in the School of Music speaks volumes about her dedication to the arts alongside successful research programs.”
She further added, “Waded has shown she understands the connection of science, research and the arts and how all of those avenues, when explored within a student, can yield an individual who is more well-rounded, curious, excited and passionate. She believes having a thriving arts program can also help the research aspect of our university.”
