A new episode of "Montana PBS Reports: IMPACT" will be broadcast on Montana PBS at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 10. This edition will delve into the issue of insurance lapses affecting Montanans with eating disorders and examine the voting patterns of legislative members from the same families.
Over 15 years ago, a federal law was enacted to ensure mental health care received the same coverage as medical and surgical care, a principle known as parity. However, various investigations have shown that many insurance companies are not complying with this law. The program will explore the implications for patients with eating disorders in Montana, a state ranking among the top five for eating disorder insurance claims in the nation.
Additionally, the report will analyze the voting records within the state’s citizen Legislature, which comprises 150 individuals. Remarkably, nearly 10% of these legislators share membership with a spouse, sibling, or another family member. The episode will feature an analysis of seven family groups to discern if their voting trends align.
