The American Marketing Association (AMA) student chapter at Montana State University (MSU) has achieved notable recognition by being named the Chapter of the Year at the AMA International Collegiate Conference. Held in New Orleans, Louisiana, this accolade comes as a first for the chapter, which has consistently been ranked among the top ten for the last five years.

Aleisha Dutton, president of the AMA chapter and a triple major in marketing, accounting, and finance, expressed pride in the designation, stating, “Being named Chapter of the Year is an incredible honor, and I am humbled to be part of such a dedicated team that has been recognized at an international level.” Reflecting on the chapter's accomplishments over the past year, she noted the addition of a new networking dinner event and a record level of fundraising which allowed 37 students to attend the conference.

The chapter's designation as Chapter of the Year was based on evaluations in professional development, social impact, fundraising, membership, and communications areas. Their fundraising efforts exceeded $49,000, allowing travel for 22 students to the international event.

At the conference, the MSU chapter participated in 17 events, garnering several accolades. These included first place in the Digital Marketing Competition and Chapter T-shirt Design, third place in the Intercollegiate Case and Marketing Strategy Competitions, and a third-place EBSCO Scholar Award, among others. Eric Van Steenburg, the faculty advisor for the AMA chapter, commended the group, saying, “I told our students last fall that they were operating at a different level. But I had no idea it would result in being named Chapter of the Year. This would not have been possible without the leadership of Aleisha Dutton, the dedication of the chapter’s executive board, hard work of the organization’s 25 directors, the guidance of the professional advisory board and the tremendous support from the Jabs administration.”

The AMA International Collegiate Conference, organized annually by the Chicago-based American Marketing Association, provides an opportunity for students to develop marketing skills and foster networking connections. The MSU chapter, established nine years ago, has earned 65 awards during its participation history.

Students from all majors at MSU are welcome to join the AMA chapter to gain professional experience, enhance personal growth, and develop leadership within the community. For more information, prospective members can visit www.amamontanastate.org.
