Montana State University's Museum of the Rockies has revealed the outcome of their community contest aimed at naming the museum's new café. The name "Rocky Rex’s Roasts" was chosen after reviewing numerous creative entries from community members of all ages. The café is set to open in June.
The contest highlighted the participation of four individuals whose submissions influenced the final name. Cora Kamerman, representing the "up to age 12" category, was selected as the winner with the suggestion "Rocky Rex’s Cafe." As a prize, Kamerman will receive a $100 gift card to the new café. The name reflects the museum's T. rex mascot and the café's coffee theme.
Cade Warren, another participant in the "up to age 12" category, and Colleen Conrad from the "age 65+" category were recognized as runners-up. They will each receive a $25 gift card to Rocky Rex’s Roasts. Additionally, Arison Caruana, aged 13-17, was given an honorable mention and will receive exclusive café merchandise.
Director of Marketing at Museum of the Rockies, Alicia Harvey, expressed her appreciation saying, "We were blown away by the creativity and enthusiasm of all our participants and their 300-plus entries... We are proud to have a name representing the museum’s mascot and the welcoming space we are creating."
Rocky Rex’s Roasts will feature coffee from Bozeman’s Yellowstone Coffee Roasters, along with specialty drinks, grab-and-go sandwiches, salads, pastries, ice cream, and snacks. It aims to provide museum visitors with a space to relax and recharge. More details can be found at museumoftherockies.org/café.
