All are welcome to attend a free laser light and science show on Wednesday, April 16, in celebration of World Quantum Day. The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Willson Auditorium, located at 404 W. Main St., Bozeman. The show does not require tickets and is open to people of all ages. Attendees can enjoy a unique experience combining sound, lasers, light, and the intriguing aspects of quantum science, with no prior knowledge necessary.

The performer, Glenn Govertsen, also known as Mr. G, is a retired physics teacher from Missoula. Govertsen has traveled globally, captivating audiences with his engaging science shows. The event is organized by Montana State University’s Applied Quantum CORE, or QCORE, along with its education and workforce development team within the Science Math Resource Center, part of MSU’s College of Education, Health and Human Development. The event organizers have noted that the performance will include flashing and strobing lights, which could affect those who are photosensitive.

World Quantum Day takes place every April, and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization has designated 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. Quantum scientists and engineers at MSU and across the Gallatin Valley are utilizing the properties of small particles to develop faster and more precise systems in electronics, including sensors, location systems, computers, and medical equipment. QCORE's research focuses on areas such as quantum computing, quantum sensing, and quantum communications, with support from the Air Force Research Laboratory.
