Montana State University Extension, in collaboration with the Montana Feed Association, will host the annual Montana Nutrition Conference and Livestock Forum on April 8-9 at the Best Western Plus GranTree Inn in Bozeman. This year's theme is "Beefing Up the Herd: Developing, Backgrounding and Evolving for Success." The event will feature experts from MSU and other institutions discussing topics such as heifer nutrition, backgrounding steers, vaccination protocols for calves, breed genetics, and RFID tag requirements.

Matthew McQuagge, a market analyst from CattleFax, will deliver a keynote address on the current cattle market outlook. Additionally, graduate students from MSU's Department of Animal and Range Sciences will present livestock research during a networking social and poster contest. A trade show will run throughout the conference to showcase industry products and services.

Sam Wyffels, an MSU Extension beef cattle specialist and assistant professor in the Department of Animal and Range Sciences, stated that "this annual event brings together producers, researchers and industry experts to share knowledge and practical insights around livestock production." He added that it offers opportunities for attendees interested in market updates, new technology, or herd health to connect and learn.
