Montana State University (MSU) has been recognized as one of the leading global institutions for Agriculture and Forestry studies. This acknowledgment comes from the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject, published on March 12 by QS Quacquarelli Symonds. MSU stands out as the only university in Montana to feature in these rankings, placing among the top 350-400 institutions worldwide.

The College of Agriculture at MSU offers a range of programs, including 11 bachelor's degrees, nine master's degrees, and four doctoral programs across six departments. It also collaborates on the WIMU veterinary program. For four consecutive years, this college has led MSU in research expenditures, reaching $54 million in 2024. The college's research infrastructure includes advanced labs and centers and seven research centers across Montana.

QS Quacquarelli Symonds bases its rankings on surveys from over 240,000 employers and academics. It evaluates research impact through citations of scientific papers and "h-index" scores that measure scholarly influence. Additionally, international collaboration is assessed using International Research Network data.

Sreekala Bajwa, dean of MSU’s College of Agriculture, expressed satisfaction with the recognition: “It is wonderful to be recognized as a top college in the world,” she said. Bajwa credited the faculty and researchers for their innovative work that benefits Montana and beyond while preparing future leaders in agriculture.
