The Montana Department of Commerce has announced that 20 businesses in Montana have been given Workforce Recovery grants.
The grants will be used to rehire employees who were laid off due to the budgetary impacts of the COVID-19 crisis.
A total of $895,000 will be shared by the businesses in an effort to rehire 152 full-time workers.
“Commerce launched the temporary Workforce Recovery program in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to support businesses that are ready to rehire workers,” Wayne Johnston, Business Assistance Bureau chief at Commerce, said in a press release. “This program is reimbursing businesses across Montana for rebuilding their workforce and bringing jobs back.”
Officials at the Big Sky Economic Development Trust Fund Workforce Recovery program said it will compensate the businesses to help pay the wages of full-time employees.
The jobs must be permanent jobs that are generated and maintained for at least six months.
Reimbursements of up to $7,500 is available per job in high-poverty counties.
