The Associated Students of Montana State University (ASMSU) will host the annual TEDxMontanaStateUniversity event on Wednesday, November 5. The event is scheduled to take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Inspiration Hall in Norm Asbjornson Hall on the Montana State University campus. A small reception will follow the talks. Tickets are priced at $5 for students and $15 for the general public, and can be purchased online.
TEDxMontanaStateUniversity is an independently organized event modeled after the national TED Talks program, which features speakers presenting educational and innovative ideas in short formats, typically under 15 minutes. The theme for this year’s event is “Forging New Paths.”
Five speakers are set to present:
Trent Berg, an MSU graduate and founder of Blackmore Sensors and Analytics—now part of Aurora—serves as director of lidar engineering at Aurora, a company involved in advanced automotive vehicle technology.
Bri Daniels, an MSU alumna, two-time childhood cancer survivor, amputee, and disability rights advocate, will discuss her experiences with adaptive sports and her work promoting prosthetic access and inclusive health care design. According to the release: “Through her work in adaptive sports, expanding prosthetic access, and inclusive health care design, Bri invites audiences to reimagine mobility not just as a physical ability, but as a universal human right and a source of joy, freedom, and connection.”
Brian Gilman transitioned from a 26-year career in the Marines—including service as chief of staff of Marine Forces Special Operations Command—to become CEO of Warriors and Quiet Waters Foundation in Bozeman. The organization connects post-9/11 veterans with outdoor resources near Bozeman through evidence-based programs that support growth and community.
Quinn Holland is an MSU engineering and business alumnus who co-founded Nutrax. The company aims to advance regenerative agriculture by linking large food companies with agricultural producers to promote sustainability.
Sarah Nell Harp is currently studying graphic design and marketing at MSU. She focuses on changing perceptions around failure by encouraging risk-taking and accepting setbacks.
