Montana State University thrower Sydney Brewster was named Big Sky Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season, according to a May 4 announcement from the university. Brewster received this recognition after winning both the shot put and discus events at the Bengal Invitational, where she also broke the school record in discus.

This award highlights Brewster’s continued success during the outdoor track and field season. The honor is her fourth such selection this year, adding to Montana State’s five total Big Sky Athlete of the Week awards outdoors.

Brewster previously earned Big Sky Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors following a runner-up finish in shot put at the Beach Invitational on April 17-18, a victory in shot put invite at Stanford Invite on April 3-4, and another win at Cat-Griz Dual/Al Manuel Invitational held March 27-28. In addition to her achievements, Bjerager was recognized as Big Sky Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for her performance in the 400-meter hurdles at one of these meets. Over both indoor and outdoor seasons during 2025-26, Brewster has now won six weekly awards.

At Saturday’s Bengal Invitational, Brewster threw a distance of 17.08 meters (56 feet, 0.50 inches) in shot put—her second-longest mark this season—and set a new school record with a discus throw measuring 51.36 meters (168 feet, six inches). She has earned weekly conference honors after each meet weekend she has competed in so far this year with four event victories: three in shot put and one in discus.

The Bobcats are scheduled to return home Friday, May 8 for their final regular-season meet when they host the Tom Gage Classic at Bobcat Track & Field Complex in Bozeman.
