Sweet Grass County announced on April 17 that a public test of the voting systems for the 2026 School Election will take place on April 20 at the Sweet Grass County Annex. The testing is scheduled during office hours from 8 am to 5 pm, and members of the public are invited to observe.

The announcement is important as it ensures transparency in local elections and allows residents to see how their votes will be processed. The ExpressVote machine, which assists people with physical or visual disabilities by printing ballots, will be used for this election. Ballots will not be counted by machines but instead hand-counted.

According to the official website, Sweet Grass County advances community impact through its elected officials and departmental programs according to the official website. The county delivers essential public services through nine elected officials and eight departments according to the official website.

Local governance is managed by a Board of County Commissioners consisting of three elected members who direct policy and administration according to the official website. Law enforcement services are provided throughout Sweet Grass County via its Sheriff’s Office, which includes reserves for additional support according to the official website.

Residents who have questions about observing or participating in this process are encouraged to contact the Election Administrator at 932-5152. Public involvement in these procedures supports accountability and trust in local government operations.
