Montana State University anticipates awarding approximately 2,465 degrees during its spring commencement ceremonies, scheduled for Friday, May 9. The events will be held at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.
The university will distribute 1,888 undergraduate degrees and 401 graduate degrees. Additionally, Gallatin College MSU students will receive 176 associate degrees and certificates, as reported by the Office of the Registrar.
The morning ceremony, beginning with a procession at 9:40 a.m., will feature graduates from the College of Agriculture, Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship, Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering, and Gallatin College MSU. Morton H. Meyerson, a former CEO and technology investor, will be awarded an honorary doctorate at this time. Meyerson is recognized for his contributions to establishing MSU’s Hilleman Scholars Program.
In the afternoon, students from the College of Arts and Architecture, College of Education, Health and Human Development, College of Letters and Science, and Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing will graduate. Their ceremony will commence at 2:30 p.m., with the procession starting at 2:10 p.m. Wendy Jean Red Star, an Apsáalooke artist, MacArthur fellow, and MSU alumna, will receive an honorary doctorate.
Attendees are encouraged, though not required, to leave bags and belongings in their vehicles to expedite entry. Metal detectors will be in use, but cellphones and keys can remain in pockets.
