Big Sky Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.
Name: Chief Farhat Appreciation farewell Open House
Date: Friday, January 24, 2020 at 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM MST
Location: Big Sky Fire Department
Details
We will be hosting an Appreciation Open House for Chief Farhat whose last day with the Department will be on the 24th of January. Chief Farhat has been with the Department for just over 8 years and working in emergency services for 30 years. Chief Farhat has been the driver of the rapid growth of our department to keep up with the booming community growth. In a society where fire departments are typically behind the curve with staffing and budget, Chief has been proactive to keep us out ahead of the curve. Chief has done some amazing things here at the department including increasing staffing from a combination department to now a career department with 30 personnel. There have been too many accomplishments to state here, but he has set up our department for success for many years to come and his impact will not soon be forgotten. Chief has also been heavily involved with numerous boards and councils throughout the state during his tenure and has done a great job to leave a positive impact on not only our department, but also on the fire service as a whole in the State of Montana. We want to wish him the best in this next chapter of his life. Chief will be retiring and moving his family to the Sunshine State of Florida to enjoy some warmer weather and relax. Deputy Chief Greg Megaard will serve as interim Chief while the Board of Trustees form a hiring committee to fill the vacancy. We would like to extend an invitation to join us for a farewell appreciation open house with us to see him off:
