Join us on Indigenous People’s Day for a film screening and discussion that explores the connection between the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and bison. The film “In the Spirit of ʔAtatíc̓eʔ: the Untold Story of the National Bison Range” depicts the Salish, Ql̓ispé and Kootenai peoples’ ongoing struggles to prevail in their efforts to care for the buffalo amidst profound disruptions to their communities and cultures. The film is produced by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and local filmmaker Daniel Glick.

The 30 minute documentary will be followed by a Q&A with representatives of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. Light refreshments will be provided. This event is free and all ages are welcome. Doors open at 7:00 pm.

Sponsored by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, Greater Montana Foundation, MSU Indigenous Peoples’ Day, and MSU Department of Native American Studies, National Parks Conservation Association, Montana Wilderness Association, and The Wilderness Society.
