Rep. Ryan Zinke, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Montana’s 1st district, has shared several updates on social media regarding recent legislative developments and a tragic incident in Washington, D.C.

On May 22, 2025, Rep. Zinke announced via Twitter that “Public land sales have been stripped from the big beautiful budget bill.” He emphasized the importance of preserving public lands by stating, “God isn’t creating more land, once it’s sold, we will never get it back.” He referred to this as a significant victory for Americans who value public lands.

Later that day, he addressed a violent event involving diplomats. In another tweet dated May 22, 2025, he reported that “The murder of two Israeli diplomats tonight at the National Jewish Museum in Washington, DC” was carried out by an activist shouting “Free Palestine.” Zinke described the act as “incomprehensible” and called for leaders across the political spectrum to condemn this “heinous murder and abhorrent act of hate and terror.”

Additionally, Rep. Zinke provided details about what he termed “THE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL” on May 22, 2025. According to his tweet, the bill includes provisions such as no sale of public lands, no tax on tips, lower taxes on social security benefits, renewal of tax cuts saving Montanans $1,400 annually on average, work requirements for able-bodied adults receiving Medicaid, and measures concerning illegal immigrants.

Ryan Zinke has been serving in Congress since replacing Steve Daines in 2023. Prior to his current role, he served in the Montana Senate from 2009 to 2013. Born in Bozeman in 1961 and now residing in Whitefish at age 61, Zinke holds degrees from the University of Oregon and National University.
