The institute, part of MSU Academic Technology and Outreach, provides more than 50 educational opportunities including courses, lectures, workshops, field trips, travel programs and discussion groups. These offerings are designed for individuals aged 50 and older.
For the upcoming fall term, OLLI at MSU will present 10 noncredit courses. These courses typically meet once a week over four to six weeks and cost between $50 and $75 for members. Course topics include American history, philosophy, Montana agriculture economics, the Italian Renaissance, forestry, communication skills, Nobel Prize literature winners, creative photography, endocrinology and church-state separation in history.
In addition to courses, OLLI at MSU will hold 12 Speaker Series lectures on Mondays from 3 to 5 p.m., starting September 8. Topics in this series will range from avalanches and self-driving vehicles to climate change and native bees. The institute will also offer travel programs; “How It’s Made” tours; behind-the-scenes previews of art performances; and free community events such as Friday Forums and lectures at the Belgrade Community Library.
A mix of in-person and online programming is planned for the fall semester. Members can access recordings of several sessions. Annual membership costs $55 per academic year.
