Montana State’s Yassin Elaroussy wins top singles match as Bobcats fall to Portland

Montana State University sophomore Yassin Elaroussy secured his first victory at the No. 1 singles position during a men’s tennis match against the University of Portland on Sunday. Despite Elaroussy’s win, Montana State fell to Portland with a final score of 6-1.

Elaroussy defeated Nikola Keremedchiev in straight sets, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4. This marked his second singles win of the weekend, following a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles against Portland State on Saturday.

Portland established an early lead by winning the doubles point and then Cade Fernando earned a win over MSU’s Oumar Diallo at No. 3 singles, giving Portland a 2-0 advantage.

In other singles matches, Andre Stewart of Montana State lost in two close tiebreak sets to Tom Garcia, while Stefan Skobelev beat David Ismanescu at No. 4 singles. Tannor Binder defeated Camille Chantron in the fifth spot, and Gian Manhas won over Max Calaquian at the sixth position.

In doubles play, Cade Ferdinand and Nikola Keremedchiev topped Oumar Diallo and Andre Stewart 6-1. Lucas Kimelman and Stefan Skobelev defeated Yassin Elaroussy and David Ismanescu 6-0. The third doubles match was abandoned with Tom Garcia and Elijah Noel leading Camille Chantron and Eddie Biss 5-3.

Montana State is scheduled to play its next match against Utah in Salt Lake City on Saturday.
