The Montana State women’s tennis team will compete in three road matches across Oregon and Washington this week, beginning with Portland State on Sunday, followed by Portland on Tuesday, and Seattle University on Thursday, according to a March 14 announcement.

These matches are important for the Bobcats as they seek to end a seven-match losing streak and secure their first conference win of the season. The team currently holds a record of 3-8 overall and 0-3 in Big Sky Conference play.

Head coach Hailey Barrett said, “We’ve had a great week of practice, and we’re looking forward to three more opportunities on this trip. We’ll have a conference match and then two more non-conference matches to finish out the trip. This is a resilient group, and we’ll keep battling for every point.”

Last week, Montana State played two matches in Washington, narrowly losing to Eastern Washington 4-3 before falling to Gonzaga 4-0. Against Eastern Washington, the Bobcats swept all three doubles matches while Nia Gelashvili and Angel Bean earned singles victories. The team will face Portland State at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center as the Vikings open their conference schedule after two weeks without competition.

Portland enters its match against Montana State with a 3-5 record after recent wins over UC Riverside and Portland State. Seattle University has lost its last three contests and holds a 1-7 record heading into its matchup with the Bobcats. Montana State has recent winning records against both upcoming opponents: they have won three of their last four against Portland State—including a sweep last year—and four straight against Seattle U since the 2018-19 season.

After completing this road trip, Montana State will return home to host New Mexico State in their non-conference finale on March 29.
