The Montana State women’s tennis team defeated Seattle University 5-2 on March 19, marking its second victory in five days.

This win is significant for the Bobcats as it improves their season record to 5-9 and demonstrates consistency following a recent victory over Portland State. The team captured the doubles point and secured singles wins on courts three through six.

Head coach Hailey Barrett said, “Today’s match was a great way to finish this trip. We played hard and competed well all the way through. I’m really happy with how we are playing doubles. Our teams are working together very well, and we are executing what we need to. We hung tough in singles and competed at all six spots.”

In doubles play, Angel Bean and Nia Gelashvili earned their fifth consecutive win by defeating Amina Avdic and Daria Nazarenko 6-4 on court two. Lola Bean and Kavya Khirwar followed with a dominant 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles against Larissa Teramura and Maija Tamura. Anna Wise and Terezie Stverakova were leading on court one before their match went unfinished.

For singles, Stverakova gave Montana State its second point after her opponent retired due to injury. Khirwar extended the lead with a straight-set win at No. 6 singles, while Angel Bean added another point with her third consecutive singles victory. Lola Bean closed out the match with a win at No. 5 singles.

Montana State will return home to face New Mexico State on March 29 at the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center for its non-conference finale.
