Montana State University’s women’s tennis team will play its first home match of the 2026 season against Sacramento State on Sunday at 10 a.m. The game will take place at the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center in Bozeman, with free admission for spectators.

Sacramento State enters the match with a 6-4 record, having recently defeated Long Beach State, which was ranked 52nd nationally. Their losses this season have come against teams such as San Diego State, Stanford, and Hawaii. The Hornets have shown particular strength in the lower positions of their singles lineup. Lou Baudoin leads the team with a 6-2 record, including an undefeated streak at No. 3 singles. Cami Maldonado Gutierrez holds a 7-3 overall record and is strong at the fifth position, while Paline Saulevich has also contributed wins at the bottom of the lineup.

Montana State currently stands at 3-5 for the season. The team’s victories include matches against Marquette, North Dakota, and Colorado State. Their most recent games have resulted in losses to Boise State, Santa Clara, Idaho, and Washington State—all away from home—along with an earlier loss to Colorado.

First-year head coach Hailey Barrett commented on playing at home: “We’ve spent the first part of our season on the road, and our team is excited to compete in front of our home crowd,” she said. “We will definitely feed off the energy and passion of the tennis community here in Bozeman.”

Junior Angel Bean has led Montana State’s singles play with a 5-4 record at No. 3 singles and has earned Big Sky Player of the Week honors this season. Terezie Stverakova holds a balanced record across different ladder positions, while Bean and Nia Gelashvili are even in doubles matches played at No. 2.

Coach Barrett anticipates a challenging contest: “It will be another tough battle for us,” she said. “Sacramento State is one of the best teams in our conference and we feel like we’ve had some really good challenges already. It’s prepared us well for what we’ll face on Sunday.”

The MSU squad features only one senior player among its roster but has managed to keep most matches competitive throughout a demanding schedule.
