The Montana State women’s tennis team will travel to Washington for two matches this weekend. The Bobcats are scheduled to play Eastern Washington at the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse in Cheney on Friday and Gonzaga at the Stevens Center in Spokane on Saturday, with both matches beginning at 11 a.m. MT.

Saturday’s match against Gonzaga will be available via live stream, and live statistics will also be provided.

“We’re back on the road for two more great opportunities,” said Montana State head coach Hailey Barrett. “Eastern Washington is another tough conference opponent, and then we’ll continue our strong non-conference schedule with Gonzaga. We’re excited to build on the positives from last weekend.”

In their recent home opener against Sacramento State, Montana State won the doubles point but ultimately lost 5-2. Notable performances included Lola Bean’s victory over Emilija Pranyte in No. 5 singles and close matches by Angel Bean. The doubles teams of Terezie Stverakova and Anna Wise, as well as Angel Bean and Nia Gelashvili, each secured wins.

The upcoming match against Eastern Washington marks an opportunity for Montana State to secure its first Big Sky win of the season. Eastern Washington enters with a 6-4 record; Friday’s contest will be their Big Sky opener. Historically, Montana State has performed well against Eastern Washington, leading the series 41-5.

Montana State and Gonzaga have each won nine matches since the 1999-2000 season, making Saturday’s contest a tiebreaker in their all-time series. The Bobcats won their most recent meeting with Gonzaga in Spokane in 2024 by a score of 4-2. Entering this weekend, Gonzaga holds a 5-6 record and aims to end a four-match losing streak when they face Montana State.

After this weekend’s matches, Montana State will return to the Pacific Northwest for three additional contests: Portland State on March 15, Portland on March 17, and Seattle U on March 19.
