The Montana State women’s golf team finished in third place at the Bell Bank Pay It Forward Collegiate, recording a 54-hole team score of 14-under-par 838 on Mar. 24. This result marks the lowest par-71 team score and second-lowest overall team score in program history.

This performance is significant as it reflects one of the best results for Montana State’s women’s golf, with four players finishing at par or better and placing in the top 20 individually. The team’s achievement also represents its fifth top-three finish of the season.

Head coach Brittany Basye said, “We obviously didn’t play as well today, but any time we can put ourselves into the final pairing and shoot under par as a team for 54 holes is a good tournament.” Basye added, “We’ve got a few things we need to keep working on before we head back to Arizona for the Bobcat Desert Classic. We had a lot of red numbers, and that is huge. They battled for 54 holes. Shooting under par as a team, or individually, is a good sign of the strength of our team and just how good we can be when our good days are good. Ashleigh had an outstanding tournament, Norah finished well, and [Lauren] Greeny finished in red numbers as well – I’m so proud of them. We kept battling, and we’re excited to have a couple days to rest, get them back in the classroom, and then get ready to hit it hard back in our practice facility, possibly get outside, and be ready to battle for the Bobcat Classic and the Big Sky Conference Championship.”

Ashleigh Wilson led Montana State by finishing fourth overall with a score of six-under-par (207), matching the third-lowest individual score in program history. Teammates Norah Seidl (tied-12th), Lauren Greeny (tied-15th), and Eva Heinz (tied-19th) also contributed strong performances at Wigwam Golf Club Blue Course.

South Florida won the event with a total score of 26-under-par (826). Florida Gulf Coast placed second at sixteen-under-par (836), two strokes ahead of Montana State. North Dakota State was fourth with ten-under-par (842), while Minnesota rounded out the top five.

Montana State will next compete when it hosts its own Bobcat Desert Classic from April 13–16 at Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear.
