The Montana State women’s golf team will begin postseason play at the Big Sky Championship, which starts on April 20 at the Wigwam Golf Club Blue Course in Arizona. The tournament will run through Wednesday and feature 54 holes of stroke play, with tee times starting each day at 7:30 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time.
This event is important as it offers the Bobcats a chance to secure a top-four finish for the fourth consecutive season and compete for both individual and team conference titles. The Bobcats are currently ranked third among Big Sky Conference teams and No. 107 nationally in Division I golf.
Head coach Brittany Basye said, “It’s go-time. This is the one we have been preparing for since August. The course will play much differently than it did three weeks ago due to the dried-out conditions and firmness of the greens. Our game plan will be set to the current conditions, and we will really need to be focused on our landing areas. It’s super exciting to have five players recognized for conference honors. Those are earned, not given. The five need to lock in for 18 holes for three rounds. The Big Sky Championship is the tournament. It’s time, and I am confident they will be ready.”
Montana State recently finished second at the Bobcat Desert Classic in Goodyear, Arizona, posting a score of 12-over par across three rounds—their sixth top-three finish this season out of nine stroke-play tournaments.
The team’s lineup includes Lauren Greeny, Norah Seidl, Eva Heinz, Ashleigh Wilson, and defending individual champion Maddie Montoya; Sailor Graham is listed as an alternate.
Montana State previously won its only Big Sky Conference team title in 1995 but has achieved top-four finishes each of the last three years underlining consistent performance at this level.
