The Montana State women’s 4×400-meter relay team set a new school record on April 5, winning their event at the Stanford Invite. The quartet of Tilde Bjerager, Peyton Garrison, Giulia Gandolfi, and Caroline Hawkes finished with a time of 3:33.61, surpassing the previous program best by just 0.05 seconds.

The achievement highlights continued progress for the Bobcats’ track and field program as they notched five top-10 performances and four event wins during Saturday’s competition in California.

“It was a great weekend in the Bay Area for the team,” Dale Kennedy Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Lyle Weese said. “We saw a few event wins and many high finishes in the two large meets, culminating with a win and school record in the women’s 4×400-meter relay.”

In addition to their victory in the final event of the day, Montana State also won events in men’s shot put (Easton Hatleberg), women’s 100 meters (Jaeden Wolff), men’s 4×100 meter relay (Stryder Todd-Fields, Xavier Simpson, Drake Wilkes, Malikye Simpson), and section five of men’s 800 meters (Blaise Snow). The same group that broke Saturday’s outdoor record also holds Montana State’s indoor mark from February.

Other notable results included Kalei Moravitz moving to second all-time at Montana State in the women’s 800 meters with her fifth-place finish at Stanford. On the men’s side, Blaise Snow recorded one of MSU’s fastest times ever to win his section of the race.

Field athletes also contributed strong performances: Easton Hatleberg won shot put with an opening throw that outdistanced his nearest competitor by more than two feet. In pole vault, Bob Hartley and Jordan Lasher entered MSU’s all-time top-10 list for their clearances.

Montana State will take next weekend off before returning to California for three meets between April 16-18.
