The Montana State track and field team will travel to Pocatello, Idaho, for the Bengal Invitational on Friday and Saturday, according to an April 30 announcement. This meet marks the team’s penultimate regular-season competition and their final road event of the season.
The event is significant as it offers athletes a last opportunity to compete away from home before returning for the final regular-season meet. The Bobcats will face four other programs: Idaho State, Montana, College of Idaho, and Treasure Valley Community College.
Montana State plans to send a large squad with 22 women and 24 men competing. On the women’s side, athletes such as Tilde Bjerager, Emma Brensdal, Sydney Brewster, Sabine Brueck, Hailey Ells, Giulia Gandolfi, Peyton Garrison, Samantha Geraets, Libby Hansen, Caroline Hawkes and others are listed among competitors. The men’s roster includes Will Anderson, Noah Barbery, Eli Boppart and several more.
In their previous outing in Southern California at four different meets—the Bryan Clay Invitational, Pacific Coast Invitational, Beach Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays—the Bobcats achieved five school records and made 18 improvements on their all-time top-10 lists. Caroline Hawkes broke four records across two meets while Sydney Brewster earned her third Big Sky Women’s Field Athlete of the Week award after a runner-up finish in shot put at the Beach Invitational.
Following this weekend’s competition in Pocatello, Montana State will host its final regular-season meet at home during the Tom Gage Classic on May 8 where seniors will be recognized. Postseason events include the Big Sky Outdoor Championships from May 13-16 in Portland; NCAA West First Round from May 27-30 in Fayetteville; and NCAA Outdoor Championships June 10-13 in Eugene.
