Montana State University will host the University of Montana in the men’s tennis regular season finale on April 18, with a spot already secured for the Bobcats in the 2026 Big Sky Conference Men’s Tennis Tournament.

The match carries significance for tournament seeding, as Montana State enters with a 3-3 conference record and an overall mark of 7-11. The Grizzlies hold a stronger position at 12-7 overall and a 5-1 record in Big Sky play. If Montana wins and Northern Arizona loses to Idaho, it would result in a tie at the top of the league standings.

Head coach Mateus Ceolin said his team is focused on competing hard and enjoying themselves. “Just go out and play,” he said. “Compete hard. Have fun.”

Ceolin described Montana as an experienced opponent with strong doubles teams and several senior players. “They play good doubles and are a fundamentally sound team,” Ceolin said. “They’re very experienced, very mature, with a lot of seniors.” He added that playing at home presents both excitement and opportunity: “It will be a great challenge, but we’re excited to play at home. We hope we’ll have a lot of fans and make it a great environment.”

The Bobcats improved their form after starting the season with three wins from their first ten matches, going 4-4 over their last eight contests including back-to-back victories against Sacramento State and Weber State.

The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center, with free admission for all attendees.
