Montana State University’s men’s tennis team will host Northern Arizona University on April 2 at the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center. The match is scheduled for 2:30 pm and marks an important Big Sky Conference meeting.

The event is significant as Northern Arizona enters with a strong record, having won the last three Big Sky championships and maintaining a perfect league record this season. Montana State holds a 5-10 overall record and is 1-2 in conference play, while NAU stands at 12-5 overall and undefeated in league matches.

“NAU is a very good team,” said Montana State head coach Mateus Ceolin. “They’ve won the regular season championship for the last several seasons and they have a lot of talented players.”

Northern Arizona’s success this year includes road wins over Sacramento State and Weber State. At the top singles spots, Noa Tcherniack has posted a 10-2 record at No. 1 singles, while Jakub Jedrejczak has achieved a 10-1 mark at No. 2 singles. Ceolin said, “They’re very good in doubles,” noting NAU’s composite doubles mark of 30-14 this season. He added, “We just want to go out and compete. We’re playing on our home court and we need to use that to our advantage.”

Friday’s contest will be Montana State’s first home match since February, when MSU defeated Whitworth twice in two days. Since then, MSU has recorded two wins out of nine matches played away from home.
