Montana State University’s men’s tennis team secured a 4-3 victory against Idaho in Moscow on March 21, snapping a 22-match road losing streak. The Bobcats overcame the absence of two injured starters to claim the win at the PFCU Kibbie Dome.

The match was decided in the final singles contests after Montana State trailed 3-2. Eddie Biss won at No. 5 singles, and Max Calaquian came from behind to take a three-set victory at No. 6 singles, sealing the overall team win for the Bobcats.

“I’m proud of the way the guys competed and stayed together from start to finish,” said Montana State head coach Mateus Ceolin. “It wasn’t perfect, but the fight and energy made the difference.”

Idaho began by winning the doubles point with victories at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles positions. In singles play, Chetanna Amadike extended Idaho’s lead by defeating Yassin Elaroussy at No. 1 singles. However, Andre Stewart put Montana State on the board with a straight-set win at No. 2 singles, followed by Oumar Diallo’s three-set triumph at No. 3 to tie the score.

Idaho regained an advantage when Gabriel Moroder defeated Camille Chantron in three sets at No. 4 singles, putting them one point away from victory before Biss and Calaquian clinched their matches for Montana State.

With this result, Montana State improved its season record to 5-9 and evened its conference mark at 1-1, while Idaho dropped to 8-12 overall and 2-2 in Big Sky play. The Bobcats are scheduled to return to action next Saturday against Idaho State.
