Montana State men’s Nordic skiers lead team to fourth at Colorado Invitational

Montana State University is currently in fourth place after three events at the Colorado Invitational ski meet, which continued Friday with the 20K Freestyle race held in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

The Bobcats’ men’s Nordic team contributed the most points for Montana State during Friday’s competition. Three men finished among the top 12. Simon Chappaz led the Bobcats by securing second place in the 20K event with a time of 57:04.7. Gavin Galyardt finished sixth at 52:42.1, and Grey Barbier was twelfth with a mark of 58:20.5, rounding out the point scorers for MSU. Fredrik Nilsen placed fourteenth (58:59.9), while Woody West finished twenty-third (1:04:47.4).

On the women’s side, Ella Ronci led Montana State by finishing fifteenth in a time of 1:15:59.4. Maeve MacLeod placed twenty-first at 1:18:51.7. Felicie Chappaz did not finish her race, and Rosie Whittington-Evans, Sabine Comeau, and Ellinor Ness did not start.

The Colorado Invitational will conclude on Saturday with the Classic race.
