Montana State University athletes secured two podium finishes on the final day of the 2026 Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association (RMISA) Championships, which concluded in Bozeman, Montana and Midway, Utah.
Justine LaMontagne, a senior from Mont Sainte-Anne, Quebec, finished second in the women’s giant slalom at Bridger Bowl with a combined time of 1:36.13 over two runs. She was less than one second behind Louison Accambray of Colorado, who won with a time of 1:35.51. This result followed LaMontagne’s slalom championship win on Friday.
In Utah, Simon Chappaz placed second in the men’s 20K Freestyle Nordic race at Soldier Hollow. The graduate student from LaClusaz, France finished in 38:58.9, just behind Utah’s Mons Melbye who posted a winning time of 48:58.1.
Other notable performances for Montana State included Gavin Galyardt finishing 14th (51:36.3), Fredrik Nilsen placing 20th (54:01.6), and Woody West coming in 28th (56:24.0) in the men’s cross country skate race. For the women’s team, Katey Houser led with a sixth-place finish (54:05.1). Felicie Chappaz was 14th (57:09.0), Maeve MacLeod took 18th (58:38.3), Ella Ronci finished 21st (1:01:36.9), and Sabine Comeau was 22nd (1:03:15.3). Rose Whittington-Evans and Ellinor Ness did not start.
In the women’s giant slalom, Lily Sewell placed ninth with a total time of 1:37.32; Solveig Groenningsaeter finished 12th (1:38.08); Zoe Gray was 15th (1:38.40); Tea Kiesel came in 18th (1:38.72); and Victoria Clancy finished 29th (1:43.59).
On the men’s side for giant slalom, Loic Spiegelberg led Montana State with a sixth-place finish at 1:35.94; Will Steed followed closely in seventh place at 1:35.98; Torius Hepsoee took eleventh place at 1:36.20; and Gianluca Boehm was twelfth at 1:36.27. Ian Haupt placed twenty-second at 1:36.98; Caleb Unger was thirty-third at 1:40.38; and Luc Dalton finished thirty-sixth at 1:41.03.
Montana State ended the RMISA Championships fourth overall with a total of 526 points—behind Utah with 669 points, Colorado with 651 points, and Denver with 560 points.
The Bobcats will next compete at the NCAA Championships hosted by the University of Utah from March 11 to March 14.
