Montana State University announced on Mar. 12 that senior Hailey Coey and junior Sydney Brewster will represent the Bobcats at the NCAA Indoor Championships, taking place March 13-14 at the Randal Tyson Track Center on the University of Arkansas campus.

The event is significant as both athletes qualified by achieving top-16 national marks in their respective events during the 2025-26 indoor season. Their participation places Montana State among 84 women’s teams expected to have competitors at this year’s championships.

Coey is set to compete in the long jump on Friday, entering the meet ranked eighth nationally. She recently won the Big Sky Conference title with a record-breaking jump of 6.53 meters (21 feet, 5.25 inches), earning her recognition as Women’s Most Outstanding Performer and capping an undefeated streak in long jump events this season. Brewster, ranked thirteenth in shot put, will compete Saturday after winning gold at the Big Sky Championships and breaking her own school record four times this year, including surpassing the conference record with a throw of 17.25 meters (56-7.25) at the Big Sky Tuner.

“Sydney Brewster and Hailey Coey have had amazing seasons and have so much momentum heading into the NCAA Championships,” Dale Kennedy Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Lyle Weese said. “These incredible student-athletes have certainly earned this opportunity and have the ability to compete well against the elite competition of the NCAA Championships. Coach Jennifer Allen and Coach Olivia Lane have done an incredible job helping Sydney and Hailey get to an elite level. We are fortunate to have great coaches who are able to help student-athletes get to this level.”

At last month’s Big Sky Indoor Championships in Pocatello, Idaho, Coey and Brewster were among seven Bobcat gold medalists as Montana State finished runner-up for both women’s and men’s teams, collecting a total of 18 All-Big Sky honors across various events.

The NCAA Indoor Championships conclude Montana State’s indoor track & field season. The team will begin its outdoor campaign with competitions scheduled for March 27-28 in Missoula.
