Bobcat track and field athletes Hailey Coey and Sydney Brewster have qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, ranking among the top 16 nationally in their events after last week’s Big Sky Championships.

The NCAA Indoor Championships are scheduled to take place at the Randal Tyson Track Center at the University of Arkansas from March 13-14. Coey will compete in the long jump, while Brewster will participate in the shot put. Together, they have achieved two Big Sky titles, four conference records, seven school records, five Big Sky weekly awards, and 12 wins in their qualifying events this season.

Coey is seeded seventh in the long jump with a mark of 6.53 meters (21 feet, 5.25 inches), which broke her own Montana State and Big Sky Conference records during last week’s Big Sky Indoor Championships. She was named Women’s Most Outstanding Performer at that meet for her gold medal performance. Coey has remained undefeated in five long jump competitions this season and has received three Big Sky Women’s Field Athlete of the Week awards. She has broken her own school and conference records three times during this indoor season.

Brewster enters nationals ranked twelfth among accepted shot put athletes. She improved her own school record four times over seven meets and set a new Big Sky indoor record with a throw of 17.25 meters (56-7.25) at the Big Sky Tuner event. Brewster won gold at the Big Sky Indoor Championships with a mark of 17.18 meters (56-4.50). She has claimed victory in all seven shot put events she entered this season and earned two Big Sky Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors.

Coey will begin competition on Friday, March 13, with the women’s long jump scheduled for 3:45 p.m. MT. Brewster’s shot put event is set for Saturday, March 14, at 1:45 p.m. MT; event times may change.
