Four players from the Montana State men’s basketball team have received All-Big Sky honors following the regular season, as announced by the conference office on Friday. Jed Miller was named to the First Team All-Conference in a unanimous decision by league coaches. Patrick McMahon earned Second Team All-Big Sky recognition, Christian King received Honorable Mention honors, and Jeremiah Davis was selected for the All-Defensive Team.
This marks the first time each of these four players has been recognized with all-conference accolades. Together, they started 100 games during the regular season and helped lead Montana State to an 18-13 overall record and a 12-6 mark in conference play, securing the second-best record in the Big Sky this year.
Miller’s selection to the First Team follows a senior season where he led Montana State in points (14.8), rebounds (5.7), assists (2.9), steals (1.6), and minutes per game (34.4). He started all 31 regular-season games, scored in double figures 25 times, posted seven games with at least 20 points, and had two double-doubles. His season included a career-high 27 points against Weber State on January 24 and a ranking of 31st nationally in three-point percentage at 41%. “He ranks 31st in the NCAA this season in three-point percentage with a 41.0% clip and was recently named Big Sky Player of the Week on March 3 following a trio of impressive performances to close the regular season,” according to the release.
McMahon averaged 13.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and two assists over his 28 games played, placing him second among Bobcat players in each category. He recorded six games with at least 20 points this season—including a high of 35 points against Idaho State on February 21—and scored in double figures on twenty-one occasions. “McMahon has scored in double figures 21 times this season and was named Big Sky Co-Player of the Week on Dec. 23 after scoring 26 points on 11-of-14 shooting at Cal Poly on Dec.16,” according to conference officials.
King contributed as one of Montana State’s consistent scorers during his first year with the program, averaging twelve points per game across twenty-seven appearances while also providing defensive support with twenty-six steals for third most on the team.
Davis earned his spot on the All-Defensive Team by collecting forty-one steals—ranking fifth in total steals within the conference—and nine blocks over thirty games played this year. Offensively he averaged nearly nine points per game while leading all Bobcat guards with just under fifty percent shooting from field goal range.
Montana State will begin its postseason run at Idaho Central Arena in Boise during Sunday’s second round of the Big Sky Championship tournament where they will face either Idaho or Sacramento State.
