Montana State University announced on April 6 that the fifth annual Bobcat Pounce: 5K Run, Walk, Stroll will take place on campus at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 18. The event aims to raise funds for scholarships benefiting students in the College of Education, Health and Human Development.

The Bobcat Pounce supports the General EHHD Scholarships Fund, which provides merit- and need-based financial aid to students pursuing careers such as teaching, counseling, physical therapy, food systems leadership and community health. Organizers have set a goal of raising $50,000 and attracting 500 participants this year.

Joe Hicks, associate teaching professor in the college and race director, said all proceeds from the annual event help fund student scholarships. “Gifts to this fund support merit and need-based scholarships to students becoming teachers, counselors, physical therapists, food systems leaders, community health professionals and more.” To mark its fifth year running, top three overall finishers will receive prizes while medals will be awarded in the youngest age group. All participants are eligible for raffle prizes during the event.

For its second consecutive year as part of the “Spring into Spring 5K Trifecta” series, those who complete all three races are eligible for grand prizes based on performance or by random drawing. Registration costs $25 online through midnight April 17 or in person before the start time on race day. Event T-shirts will be available for purchase with proceeds supporting scholarship funds.
