Tilde Bjerager set a new school record in the 400-meter hurdles on March 28, running a converted time of 57.79 seconds and leading the Montana State Bobcats women’s team to victory at the Cat-Griz Dual/Al Manuel Invitational in Missoula.
The meet was significant for Montana State, with the women’s team scoring 81 points to secure first place and the men’s team finishing second with 67 points. Over two days, Bobcat athletes won a total of 17 events and made improvements to their program’s all-time top-10 lists in thirteen instances.
Bjerager’s performance broke the previous school record by .14 seconds and currently ranks fourth nationally for this outdoor season. She also matched her program’s third-fastest time in history for the 100-meter hurdles, winning that event as well. Sydney Brewster nearly broke her own shot put record with a winning throw of 17.12 meters.
Other notable performances included Jaeden Wolff coming within one hundredth of a second from tying the school’s best mark in the women’s 100-meter dash, while Caroline Hawkes claimed victory in the women’s 200 meters with a converted time of 23.77 seconds—moving her up to third all-time at Montana State. The men’s side saw Xavier Simpson equal his No.3 mark in program history for the men’s 100 meters, finishing runner-up at this meet.
In field events, Jordan Lasher cleared a personal best height of 5.22 meters to win pole vault and move up to sixth all-time for Montana State. Eva Koos led an eight-athlete sweep by Bobcats in the women’s1500 meters, while relay teams posted seventh-best times ever recorded by both men’s and women’s squads.
Looking ahead, Montana State will continue its outdoor track season next week at meets hosted by Stanford University and San Francisco State University on April 3-4.
